Hi, I'm Margaret Hooton, the Bark Busters therapist for the Chesterfield & Mansfield area. I'm married to Kevin and we have 3 gorgeous dogs - Charlie, Sadie and Sophie.
Occasionally in life, you come across something really interesting, fascinating, exciting, new. Something which has the potential to alter the path we take in life. One such occasion happened to me while working in Glasgow.
“Have you heard of Bark Busters?” a close friend and fellow dog lover asked. I hadn’t but after she explained to me some of the wonderful work they were doing in Glasgow I certainly wanted to. I had recently rescued not one but three beautiful Samoyed’s. Not planned I have to say but loved nevertheless. Of course, it didn’t take long before I was asking myself “Oh my god-what have I done?” There was Charlie who wanted to rule the world, Sadie who just wanted to rule Charlie and Sophie, a nervous wreck frightened of her own shadow. So upon my return home I decided to track down Bark Busters to ask if they operated in my area. (Thank god for the internet) THEY DID! Hooray!
Experiencing the Bark Busters service first hand firmly fixed my belief that there was something special that I would love to be part of. Several phone calls & visits to head office later and I had given up my job of seven years as a project manager for a large telecommunications company and there I was fully trained and raring to go.
I have been operational for three years now and love every minute. I have seen hundreds of dogs and I still get a real thrill at the owners reaction when they see there dog’s bad behaviour change before their very eyes.
Bark Busters helped me with my three fluff balls, I want to be able to help everyone who needs it. It is great to be able to walk where there are sheep and for Rain not to chase them. We can now take her up on the fells and enjoy our walking.
