Sharon Chapman dealt with: Puppy Management

Sharon was very patient and friendly and explained everything very clearly. She took time to find out what our specific problems were, and I was very interested to find out some of the issues could be caused by things we had never thought of (for example the behaviour of our puppy could be due to his lack of sleep - I just assumed that as he was always awake and wanted to play, this was the best thing for him!!). I now make sure he gets lots of sleep and put him in his crate after every walk.

Sharon also taught us some little games we can play, and lead training was especially helpful - just 2 days in and our puppy has almost mastered walking on a loose lead!

Although I have had a puppy before, this one has been much more challenging, so Sharon's help and advice has been invaluable.

Since our first visit, I have emailed Sharon one and called twice and she is always quick to get back and answer any queries. So far very happy. Although I paid for the year guarantee, I'm sure I won't be needing this as our puppy is responding very well. Unfortunately, he is on antibiotics after being bitten by another dog, and has a lampshade on his head - this has made him rather grumpy so putting into practice some of the techniques Sharon taught me is proving rather tricky! I'm sure once he has made a full recovery, we can pick up where we left off and continue to make good progress.

Sharon arrived bang on time for our first appointment, I phoned bark busters to help me with my wire haired fox terrier Rosie and my welsh terrier Teddy Sharon was brilliant, she spent time asking lots of questions to identify and understand what our issues, best of all I didn't feel like I was being judged as an owner Everything she said makes sense and she was very clear in explaining what we would work on initially and gave clear demonstrations on how to use the strategies. Sharon gave me some useful advice around the dogs' diet .

I felt Sharon really took her time and made sure that I understood my "homework"

I am two weeks in and can see the results already which is amazing !

I'm under no illusions that for the training to be successful the hard work has to come form me but with the ongoing support form Sharon I have no doubt that we will succeed in having well behaved happy doggies and much happier owners!

Sharon is exceptionally professional and knowledgeable and we thoroughly enjoyed and learned a huge amount during the first session. We spent the first 45 minutes providing Sharon with in-depth details about the dogs and us and what we considered to be the areas of concern and why. Both dogs 'fence-fight' at the gate and the younger dog is reactive to other dogs. Sharon explained to us the dog 'psyche' and it made complete sense when explained by a professional. Both dogs reacted very well to Sharon and were transformed when being handled by her. We spent time learning how to stop the 'boys' door rushing and barking when people approached and entered the house and using games and reward to achieve objectives. We then all went for a walk so that Sharon could monitor how we handled the dogs and what we needed to rectify - quite a lot! We were left with homework and strategies. Two weeks later the 'boys' bark less, don't rush at the door and are beginning to learn that there is an invisible boundary before the gate. Bruno will also walk to heel both on and off the lead. Our next lesson is in a week's time and I believe we are going to work with Samba (the reactive dog) so that Sharon can see his 'body' language when near other dogs. Based on that she will be able to determine the best course of action to help him and of course us. Very enjoyable, productive and positive. Thank you.

Found Sharon to be very understanding to our dogs needs. Found her methods very useful. It's not going to be a quick fix but with us taking on board what we learnt on our first session hopefully we will have 2 well behaved dogs. Sharon didn't rush our first session which was really good.

When Sharon arrived for her appointment Bella gave a good demonstration of her problem behaviour. She barked non-stop and jumped up at Sharon. Sharon was able to show how to control Bella. During the session she provided a detailed explanation of a dog's behaviour and what steps we could take to control it by e.g. Door control. The session lasted over three hours and we found Sharon to be helpful, practical and reassuring. She left leaving us with instructions to practice the 'bah' technique and front door manners.

I am very impressed with the training up to now. Milo is learning fast. A few things will take him about longer but overall he's doing well. Can't wait for my next lesson.

Our first visit with Sharon couldn't have gone any better! Her expertise and guidance was presented in a very clear way for myself and my son to understand the needs of our dog. Sharon was very friendly at the same time professional and respectful. The training gave us so much confidence and helped us in our attitude and approach towards our dog. We enjoyed the session so much, put all that we learnt into practice and have already seen a positive change in our dog.

Thank you Sharon

Sharon's first visit to our home was extremely helpful, and she showed a quick understanding of our Border Collie's issues, and our own confusions round the training process. She also accompanied us on a local walk and gave excellent advice on typical daily problems. Although it's early days - just three days after her visit - I feel that Sharon has left us a a workable training programme, plus notes on the visit and a helpful set of hand-outs: Bark Busters' methods are easy-to-follow, reward-based and constructive. I am currently putting her guidelines into practice, and will contact her in a fortnight, as asked, to give a progress report.

We were pleased to see Sharon after struggling with some behaviour from our dog. She has given us a plan of action to start work on straight away with demonstrations and explanations on how and why to do this. This has given us confidence and knowledge to work towards resolving the issues, including jumping up at visitors and barking and lunging towards other dogs in the street. We have overhauled the diet as recommended and look forward to further support as we continue through the program.
