Bark Busters to the Rescue

11th October 2004
Sue Davies of Cheylesmore, Coventry, contacted Bark busters when at her wits end with Leo a 2 year old rescue dog who constantly barked and pulled on the lead.

‘If anyone came to the house Leo just wouldn’t stop barking and he was no better when taken out for walks.  He barked at anyone who walked towards us and at everything we passed, not just buses and traffic, but bicycles, trolleys, just about anything made him bark.  I would hide down side-streets until people had passed just to stop him barking and I even took to walking him after dark when there were less people about’ admits Sue.  ‘On top of that he also pulled like a couple of trains’.

Sue took Leo to a dog training class, but one visit was enough.  ‘Leo barked non-stop from start to finish and he had pulled so much that I had blisters on my hands’ she explains.  ‘I certainly didn’t want to go back there with him’.

In desperation Sue contacted Louise Mokrzycki, a Dog Behavioural Therapist with Bark Busters in Coventry and under her guidance Leo is transformed.

‘Leo really is like a different dog, the nuisance barking has stopped altogether and when he does occasionally bark at something unusual I can stop it straight away.  Walking Leo is no longer a problem either, he is totally relaxed and when people come to the house Leo just settles down with no fuss’.

So what did Louise do to transform this disobedient dog?

‘Leo was a nervous dog who thought he was in control’ explains Louise ‘I showed Sue how to communicate with Leo in a way that he understood and in doing so took away the responsibility he had, leaving him a happy and relaxed dog who didn’t need to bark at everything’.

Sue is delighted.  ‘I can’t praise Bark Busters enough, Louise certainly turned things around in our house’.

The Bark Buster Service

Bark Buster therapists are trained to work with dogs and their owners on a whole range of problems including disobedience, aggression, barking, destruction and inappropriate toileting. Whatever anti-social behaviour the dog is displaying Bark Busters work with the owners to effectively and quickly solve the problem.

All sessions take place in the clients’ own home or wherever the problems occur.  The therapist will devise individual solutions which work for the dog and owner.

The company offers “a life of the dog guarantee” which means that therapists will return, free of charge, at any time during the dog’s life should the need arise.
