Tina Edwards dealt with: Hyperactivity Pulling on the Lead

Another great training session with Tina. Since the last session our dogs had made good progress with their behaviour inside the home. They are now much happier and settled although we are continuing to practice all the tasks Tina set out for us. During this session Tina modelled how to train the dogs when outside. Her advice was fantastic and with consistency and praise our dogs are beginning to show signs of improvement when we are out walking them. Thank you Tina.

Trainer note from Tina:
It's a joy to work with such clever little dogs, so willing to respond to the new communication methods and enjoying feeling more secure that their owners are more than capable of making the decisions instead of them! Great progress, barking sorted which was the main issue!

We cannot thank Tina enough after just one session of working with our dogs, Domino and Lola. Tina spent time listening to the issues we needed support with and made detailed notes. She then explained about the benefits of the Bark Buster training before beginning to work with our pair. The transformation was instant. My husband and I could not believe how quickly our dogs responded to Tina and then, under Tina's guidance, to us as well. Amongst other issues Tina supported us with, by the end of the session we were able to open our front door and welcome a visitor with two calm, quiet dogs watching from the hall. Fantastic! Tina left us with a pack full of useful information to further support our dogs and detailed tasks to work on over the next two weeks. We started working on the tasks immediately and only 12 hours later are amazed at how well our dogs are responding. We look forward to welcoming Tina back to help us with the dogs in the outside world. We have every confidence that their response to outdoor training will be just as rapid. Thank you, Tina.

Trainer note from Tina:
Two small rehomed dogs who had bonded well with their new owners, but had some issues that prevented enjoying them to the full. The basics were put in place and both dogs responded well, after a couple of weeks to bed in the foundations we will do more work primarily leadwork and building the dogs confidence with outside distractions.

We have a happier calmer dog with a constructive set of enjoyable exercises to share with her.

Tina's passion for dog training shines through. The Bark Busters method has clicked with us and we are looking forward to working with her as our German Shepherd Maggie improves.

Trainer note from Tina:
Maggie was a little confused about her job in this family and although not meaning to be aggressive, she had developed some disconcerting habits and could have accidentally hurt someone. A true clever GSD, she was happy to respond to the new calm methods of communication and loves to get it right!

Very well explained what we need to do. Excellent all round,

Trainer note from Tina:
This lovely boy was lucky to find a new home with these lovely people! He has some issues, but is basically a lovely boy who needs simple rules and boundaries and is then happy!

The training made a lot of sense. Although we did not want to make some of the changes we could see that it was necessary for training purposes. Three weeks in, and following a second visit, we are already seeing positive changes in the way our boy responds to us. We have also switched to a raw diet which I was very wary of and, for the first time, Albie actually looks forward to his dinner!

Trainer note from Tina:
A very cute clever little dog who had decided that lunging and spinning at cars and other moving items were worth chasing!! We put the basics in place and today we moved matters on to impulse control teaching him to focus and listen to his owner. He's a star in the making!

Tina talked everything through with me in a thorough and meticulous manner.

Tina listened and answered all questions and concerns about my dog Bear.

I felt more confident and able to continue the training and exercises with Bear once Tina had left, knowing she was available at any time if I needed her.

Trainer note from Tina:
Bear a young confused and anxious boy, was taking on his protection duties far too seriously, we started very slowly and quietly and had several breaks for him to process the new games and will take our time to help him gain confidence and learn to look to his owner for decisions.

Tina was brilliant, she explained everything so well, and showed me how to teach Geani to be a happier dog. With the right guidance and what Tina taught me and Geani will increase the already good bond we have with each other and seems to be working already. Thank you for that and a lot more.

Trainer note from Tina:
Geani is a lovely young lurcher, very strong and pulling on the lead and just becoming a teenager! She responded very well and I'm sure with consistency she will be exactly the dog that she was always supposed to be.

It was a lovely afternoon with Tina and learning the do's and don'ts. It was also reassuring that we actually are relatively on the right track so it was a confidence booster for us. We have already swapped to raw food as suggested by Tina and also placed an order with Honeys. we have been doing the commands and he seems to be responding really well to them.( well to me Amanda :) also been doing more research on treats and placed our first order with JR treats, in the hope that it will change my dogs mood from constantly boisterous to a much calmer puppy because hes not so hungry all the time now. we have put him to sleep a lot more which is having a positive effect on his mood. we have started to do recall in the house from one of us at the top floor to the other at the bottom. It worked perfectly yesterday evening. Step by step I think we will get there and it was a great learning curve for us and also good fun. Thank you Tina

Trainer note from Tina:
A gorgeous young pup full of energy, but sometimes a little too much! Recall is very important for any dog owner to keep him safe and other people from being jumped on by a friendly boy! His owners are keen to keep his food as natural and species specific as possible as they are both keen to eat healthily themselves! It will be fun watching him grow into a lovely boy.

We are now a week and a half into following our bark busters training programme, we are absolutely thrilled with the progress Max is making and the confidence we are feeling now. Tina explained things so well and helped boost our confidence with new strategies. We look forward to working with Tina again.

Trainer note from Tina:
One of 3 small dogs Max is not a confident dog, but felt he had to do the job of guarding the whole human/dog pack! The techniques I taught his owners worked with all 3 dogs, but as Max had been showing aggression to other dogs and was pulling badly on his lead, there were some specific new games that we taught him. He really enjoyed the work, getting lots of praise as he was set up to succeed in the exercises. Can't wait to see the progress myself!

I thought you might like to know how Maggie is doing, I hope you don't mind. She is doing so well, Tina ☺ We can now walk her past people without her reacting, which is brilliant and such a relief. A chap walked up to us the other day to ask directions, we sat her down and she was as good as gold. Occasionally, she will huff and puff but we reassure her that everything is ok and she is fine. Even cyclists and tractors now she doesn't react to. We have been walking her into Ash a lot which is getting her used to lots of people and dogs and taking her out of her comfort zone. She is still not good with other dogs when on the lead apart from when we walk her into Ash. If she sees another dog then she will just look and doesn't react. I think it's because Ash is not her territory maybe?

The golden retriever that she used to react to when we walked her past the house had to be put to sleep a couple of months ago so walking her past the house has not been an issue. However, the lady has just bought two Spoodle puppies. They have not been out in the garden so far and Maggie doesn't know they are there yet.

There is only really one hurdle left to get over and that is the Vets. We haven't needed to take her yet but I am sure there will come a time when she will need to go. We realise that we will have to muzzle her and have bought a new muzzle just for when we have to take her to the Vets. I will be doing muzzle training with her over the next couple of weeks, as I am on holiday so will have lots of time to do it.

I can't thank you enough for all your help and training advice. Maggie is a different dog now and although it has sometimes been hard work, it has definitely all been worth it. I can't believe how far she has come. I found an old e-mail the other day which I sent to the rescue centre just after we got her to let them know how she was doing. When I read through all the problems she had back then, I suddenly realised how far she has come. She is still not a 'Party Girl', as you once said and I don't think she ever will be but we know her faults and thanks to you, we know how to manage them.

We are, of course, still doing training with her every day, maintenance training, sit, leave, recall when she is off the lead etc. you will be pleased to hear ☺ We realise that it is really important to keep it up.

I will definitely recommend you to anyone that needs a dog trainer.

Trainer note from Tina:
I worked with Maggie and her family over the course of a year, she is a rescue dog from Romania and had real trust problems, being suspicious of all strangers and even some people she saw fairly regularly. She was a sheep chaser, reactive to all forms of transport and almost all dogs she met. Her owners have been so diligent and consistent with the tailor made training programme and with support, they have done a wonderful job and can now enjoy her. She will NEVER be a party girl, but is a much happier relaxed girl now!
