Bark Busters Reviews and Customer Testimonials

31st January 2014 - Kevin McDonnell

Kevin dealt with Jumping up, Pulling, Other

We had a really good session on 29th January. Hazel quickly responded to Kevin in a very positive way, and started to get the hang of what he was teaching her and me. Kevin was kind and patient with both of us. We had some success with the first collar, but the next day I saw Kevin again and bought a cannie collar, which gives me much more control, making both Hazel and me more confident and happier when road walking. We are looking forward to a calmer and more enjoyable future together.

30th January 2014 - Alex Fraser

Alex dealt with Aggression, Barking, Hyperactivity, Separation anxiety

George is our first dog. He is a rescue dog and had really not had the best start in life. We didn't know where to start or how to deal with our new hyper active addition - especially when we tried to walk him. He would bark at absolutely everything. Alex was very sympathetic to our needs and was extremely supportive. He was honest about how much work we would need to put in to make George a happy and secure little dog, but as the weeks progressed we really started to see a difference. He very quickly stopped trying to dart out of the front door when somebody came to visit and his walking on the lead has really improved. We are so happy. Thank you Alex

Trainer note from Alex
George had some real behavioural issues which stemmed from the way he was treated during the first two years of his life. It was crucial that his family followed my instructions to the letter week in week out - and continue to do so. His behaviour quickly started to improve, but it is important to note that it can take months sometimes to reprogram a dog to make it realise where it sits in the family pack and to feel safe and secure at all times.

29th January 2014 - Alex Fraser

Alex dealt with Barking, Chewing, Hyperactivity, Jumping up, Pulling, Puppy management, Recall

From the first session with Alex, it's like we have a different puppy. We now use the techniques Alex taught us all and the passive leadership checklist is used daily. We can't wait for our next family session this weekend. Thank you Alex Fraser.

Trainer note from Alex
Woody was your typical boisterous English Bull Terrier and when I first met him he definitely thought he ruled the roost. What really pleased me about his family was that they all wanted to learn and work with Woody. It is really important that Woody identifies all 3 members of his family as solid pack leaders, so that he listens and does as he is told for all of them. It is therefore crucial that they are all consistent so that he doesn't receive any mixed messages. I honestly couldn't believe how much calmer he was when I returned for our second session and I look forward to see what further progress has been made when I visit them again. Keep up the good work.

26th January 2014 - Sharon Chapman

Sharon dealt with Aggression, Barking, Hyperactivity

Really useful - we have learned a lot about Teddi and why he is behaving as he is. Sharon gave us simple training activities to do which have really made an impact already.

26th January 2014 - Lynn Prentice

Lynn dealt with Barking, Jumping up, Puppy management, Separation anxiety, Toileting, Other

Amazed. After several months of a 4am wake up call every day from our Husky pup Willow, we couldn't believe that after the first visit it all stopped! The weeing in the house as well as the scatty barking has also stopped. Pixie (our Boxer pup) is taking a bit longer with her lead training but I'm sure we will get there soon enough. They have both put on weight due to the change of diet, and look much more healthy (as they were both under weight). Lynn explained everything really well and showed us how the pups see things. Would recommend Lynn to anyone having problems with their dogs.

26th January 2014 - Sharon Chapman

Sharon dealt with Puppy management

Very pleased with initial three hour session. Sharon answered many of our questions and gave us lots of valuable advice and guidance for dealing with a boisterous puppy. Sharon helped us to understand some of the mistakes we had already made (puppy pads, retractable leads, etc) and gave us some guidance on how to better deal with these issues. The use of proper training leads for recall and close walking are proving invaluable - unfortunately the current weather conditions have limited the recall training but initial results are proving positive.

25th January 2014 - Lynn Prentice

Lynn dealt with Aggression, Barking, Jumping up, Pulling, Puppy management, Recall, Separation anxiety

Lynn was amazing. At first we all were very dubious of how much Daisy could be helped due to extreme fear and need to protect but within the lesson Lynn was banging on the door with only one bark from her which is unheard of. She is peacefully laying down, listening to commands like we have always prayed she would do. Thank you so much for your time and expertise!

24th January 2014 - Lynn Prentice

Lynn dealt with Pulling, Other

Was very practical and applicable advice. I could see immediate results in how Jessie was responding and could actually understand what I was/wasn't doing right in terms of how I was resounding to Jessie. Lynn was very assertive and knowledgable and a really insightful teacher. We made great first steps with an actionable training programme designed.

22nd January 2014 - Kevin McDonnell

Kevin dealt with Barking, Chewing, Hyperactivity, Jumping up, Pulling, Recall, Separation anxiety, Toileting, Other

We were quite desperate for some help with our rescue Dobermann dog. He had some very bad habits like stealing absolutely everything, jumping up, constant attention-seeeking and very big separation anxiety, to the point that we weren't able to leave him alone at all. He also marked constantly and was quite unresponsive to any kind of command. We had a training session with Kevin and the result is quite dramatic! Kevin gave us an informative and interesting talk on why dogs behave as they do and how they work and then addressed all our concerns, one by one. Kevin showed us some very effective ways to control and lead our dog which we then practised as well. Our dog responded very well and the change is quite unbelievable. The session lasted about threee hours, and we were given a detailed individual plan of easy-to-follow training instructions which we are applying very successfdully. We can honestly say, thanks to Kevin's work our home is a much more relaxed and peaceful place . Our dog is much more relaxed and so, are we. We would certainly recommend a training session with Kevin if your dog is making your life difficult, the actions we were shown are so easy to apply, and theyn work immediately. We know that you don't get a perfectly well behaved dog in three hours but we know that our dog's behaviour has dramatically improved after Kevin's session and that it will get even better by keeping applying the bark busters method. Before the session, we were quite desperate and exhausted, now we feel very confident that our stressful dog will become a well-behaved friend.

21st January 2014 - Sharon Chapman

Sharon dealt with Aggression, Separation anxiety, Toileting, Other

Sharon has made a noticeable difference with Rosie from the first session. Rosies problems are mainly towards other dogs and her nervous personality. Sharon has given us great advice on the different areas that Rosie needs to improve on and it is working. We understand this will be a long process but Sharon seems like the best person to help.

21st January 2014 - Graham Milgrew

Graham dealt with Aggression, Barking, Hyperactivity, Jumping up, Pulling, Separation anxiety, Sibling rivalry, Other

Excellent first lesson and Jo is lovely. We wanted to understand our dogs behaviour and feel more comfortable with having them around our small children (Demi in particular is very nervous). Jo explained why they behave the way they do and how we need to help them, not just train them which was was an eye-opener. We noticed a difference immediately and Demi's bond with our eldest son is already much stronger. We've still got a lot to do and correcting the barking and excitement is going to take some time but it's worth it. We haven't even begun to tackle walks yet but that's the excellent thing about paying a lump sum, we can ask Jo to come back whenever we need her to and she's always available by phone/email. I'm glad we went ahead with this, we were starting to feel we couldn't handle both dogs but now feel much more confident with them and wish we'd done this sooner, preferably before having kids!!

- -.D, Chelmsford, Essex (Testimonial)

Trainer note from Graham
These owners have 2 lovely dogs, a Doberman cross and a Chihuahua cross. Both the dogs and themselves have spent lots of time living in Europe and the dogs had to stay with other family members for a long period at one point when they were in transit. This and the arrival of children in the interim meant that their previously well behaved dogs have got confused about what is expected and don't know how to behave in certain circumstances. Before they knew it they had a myriad of problems such as squabbling dogs, barking, lead pulling and a mix of either hyperactivity or nervousness around the kids. As this is a very busy family who still travel to Europe they are now working at rebuilding relationships and working at their own pace with the training required. Their dogs really love and respect them and I have no doubt that they will achieve everything they want to with their ongoing patience and consistency.
