Frequently asked questions

Why Home Dog Training?

Bark Busters conduct lessons in your home as this is typically where the problems start. The home environment is where your dog feels most comfortable and less stressed. In the home environment, your dog can focus better, are less stressed and can rapidly change their behaviour making the training more productive. Of course, if you are experiencing problems outside the home your trainer will address these too.

Will I see a lasting change in my dog's behaviour?

Most dog owners report that they see a change in behaviour from the very first lesson. With more complex behaviour problems, you may see a gradual change over a period of time. With consistency and practicing the training programme for 15 minutes each day, you can expect to see lasting results in your dog's behaviour.

What actually is the Bark Buster Guarantee?

The guarantee is a support guarantee, and it was established to give owners peace of mind so they can continue to receive support from their trainer at no additional cost. Our therapists and trainers will return, free of charge, to help you with the behaviour problems, even if the original behaviour problem recurs or if a new one develops. Depending on the guarantee purchased it covers you for behaviour problems that develop in later life that were not there at the time of taking out the support guarantee. You have the peace of mind that your dog's behaviour will be cared for throughout your dog's life. The support guarantee also enables you to receive training if you move home (transfer fee may apply). Bark Busters have a network of trainers around the country and around the world. If there is a Bark Busters therapist in your new area, continued support will be provided under the guarantee.

We do not guarantee to "fix" the problems that you are having with your dog(s). Sometimes this may not be possible as it can depend on elements outside our control. However, at the time of writing (April 2022) over 98% of dog owners said that their dog responded positively to the Bark Busters training.

How often will my trainer return free of charge?

Your trainer will return free of charge under the support guarantee, for as long as the guarantee is in place. Your trainer will leave you with a training programme and training instruction at each lesson, to follow for a period of time. The period of time depends on the behaviour problems and is agreed with you during the lessons. During the lessons your trainer will ask that you update them, after a number of days, on the progress of your training and the progress of your dog's behaviour problems. You can update your trainer at any time by calling our freephone number 0808 100 4071 or 03335 777207. Your trainer will then contact you to discuss your progress. Having then updated your trainer on the progress, between you and your trainer, you will decide when the next training lesson should take place. The Support Guarantee does not cover you for weekly, monthly or regular scheduled visits. To obtain further help under the support guarantee it is important that you update your trainer regularly and follow the training plan provided by your trainer.

What if I decide to rehome my dog?

In the unfortunate event you decide to rehome your dog, your guarantee transfers to the new owner. If we have a trainer that covers the new owner's area, we will continue to work with the new owner and your dog for the remaining term of the support guarantee. You have the peace of mind that your dog will be well looked after when it comes to any behaviour problems.

What if my dog passes away or is euthanised?

In the unfortunate event that your dog passes away or is euthanised, the support guarantee is terminated. Unfortunately the support guarantee cannot be transferred to another dog or household in this instance.

What happens if I decide to cancel the training?

You can cancel the service at any time. However, this does not mean that we will be able to refund any money back to you. If you cancel the service after the first lesson has been performed, you will not be entitled to a refund of money. It’s important to remember that the price you’ve paid for the service is for the first lesson and all further lessons are conducted free of charge. If you have not had your first lesson, then you may be entitled to a refund of your deposit or booking fee. However, you will only be entitled to a deposit or booking fee refund if you cancel within the 14-day cooling off period, and only if your first lesson has not been performed.

What should I do if I'm not happy with any aspect of the training or service?

In the unfortunate event that you are not happy with any aspect of the training or service then we advise that you should speak to your trainer to discuss any concerns. After speaking with you trainer you feel that you are still unhappy then you can raise your concerns to Bark Busters Head Office.
