Alex dealt with Aggression, Barking, Sibling rivalry

A most enjoyable session, I learnt a great deal - as did my dogs, who to my surprise where very attentive. Of particular help was how to stop Harris from grabbing anything that came through the letter box and treating it as his prey which he needed to kill (I.e. Ripping it to shreds)! Also I feel a lot more confident and in control of them when they are together and less fearful of a fight breaking out between them.

Trainer note from Alex
I have met plenty of dogs that get excited when the post arrives, but I had never met a dog that got quite as focuses as Harris. This made life a little difficult when trying to retrieve post from the porch when he was around. Once we get the dogs to start listening to and respecting their owner, we can start to focus on particular issues. I've been back once so far and I couldn't believe how much better he is doing with not attacking the post. The next session will be dedicated to his sisters recall.

Alex dealt with Aggression, Barking, Pulling

Being quite apprehensive about our first visit from Barkbusters,as neither myself or Bob are very good at being told what to do !! Alex put us at ease with his pleasant, laid back manner, being willing to listen first and give advice later.I was amazed by the fact that Bob was responding by the end of the first session as he is a very stubborn little terrier who has not had the best start in life, having had three previous owners before I got him from an animal shelter. We were making progress in several areas and he socialised well with people and other dogs, until after several incidents with out of control dogs he was attacked and injured physically and mentally. He became nervously aggressive with dogs, constantly barking when approached by dogs, pulling when on his lead,to the point there was no pleasure walking him and became quite dominant in the house. After the first lesson things started to improve as I had gained the confidence to deal with the problem, I won't say I have not had setbacks but have realised I have been doing lots of things wrong and unfortunately Bob seems to learn faster than I do! but now feel sure I can deal with it,having taken the ' for life option ' giving me the peace of mind that if things do start to go 'pear shaped' I can call on Alex for support. I would recommend Alex and Barkbusters ( and have done so) to anyone having problems with their dogs behaviour, unfortunately many people seem to see the behaviour as acceptable, and as I have been told several times 'but that's what dogs do'! The most important thing to me is that Alex is passionate about the job he is doing and the dogs he works with, it is not 'just a job'.I also have a much more relaxed and I hope happier little Bob.

Trainer note from Alex
Little Bob had been passed round from pillar to post before finally meeting his new owner. I'm delighted he has finally found his forever home and an extremely patient owner as Bob has developed a few issues. It is always important that before we start working with a dog, I gather as much information as possible, so that we can tailor the training program to suit their needs. I am delighted to say that Bob has come on leaps and bounds, both inside and outside the house. Not all behavioural issues can be fixed over night, or be completely fixed, but once an owner learns how to refocus their dog before the dog becomes too stressed, then walks can once again become a pleasure and not a chore!! I'm looking forward to my 3rd session with Bob.

Alex dealt with Barking, Chewing, Hyperactivity, Jumping up, Pulling, Recall, Separation anxiety, Other

The training was a great experience for us to properly learn how to be towards our dogs instead of always second guessing. Once Alex started work with us, the dogs' behaviour completely changed, and they seemed like two totally different animals to the ones we know. We know that we still have a long way to go, but after only a few days they have improved ten fold on the walk, no longer jump up and remain quiet when we leave the house. Thanks Alex, from both of us.

Trainer note from Alex
These were 2 lovely, but very noisy and attention seeking little dogs, especially when out walking. They both used to like barking at other dogs. Before the end of the first session they had both really calmed down and had started to listen to their owners. I can't wait to see how they are both doing when I meet them next week.

I was really really impressed with Alex's training. My dogs were a handful, always barking, going after other dogs and generally disobedient. After just one session with Alex, they are totally different dogs! They are such a joy to walk now. I'm not stressed and they aren't stressed, everyone enjoys it. So, Alex thank you so so much. You have been a god send! I would recommend Alex to anyone who needs help.

Trainer note from Alex
I love jobs which involve little dogs that bark a lot, and this job was no exception. When I arrived both dogs barked and barked. After we had finished doing some exercises around the home we took them both out for a walk and I was warned about how they both barked everybody and everything. However, due to the fact that both dogs were now listening to their owner we had a very enjoyable and peaceful walk. The dogs just needed to see their owner as in charge of their pack. Another great result. Happy dogs and happy owner!!

Alex dealt with Hyperactivity, Jumping up

What a transformation... Before Alex came Ted was in total control of the house, attacking anyone that came around. I used to have keep him in a different room, which I hated because he used to cry. After only a couple of lessons the results where amazing he was no longer jumping up at friends or family and was just alround much more obedient with myself. I would fully recommend Alex to anyone with a troublesome pup!!!

- -.Y, Wilmslow, Cheshire (Testimonial)

Trainer note from Alex
Ted is a young Staffi, and boy was he a lively young dog. He used to have a habit of jumping up at people who entered his home and could easily remove somebody's glasses from their face or break a necklace. He certainly wasn't aggressive, but he could unnerve people with his jumping, and he had also start to bite people's clothing. Ted's Mum really was in need of some training but more importantly Ted needed a change of diet. Although the food he had been on for the past 12 months was a well known popular brand - it certainly wasn't doing him any favours!! Anyway, I am absolutely delighted in how much calmer Ted is, especially when he has visitors. No more jumping or mouthing and no more being shut away in other rooms. Well done to both Ted and his Mum. Keep up the good work!

Alex dealt with Pulling, Puppy management, Recall, Toileting

We contacted Bark Busters looking for some general puppy management with our new miniature schnauzer - we were keen to start off on the right foot and avoid getting into too many bad habits that we would need to correct later on. Alex has been great in helping us achieve that. He has been supportive, encouraging and given clear advice on any issue or question that has popped up. We have since moved on to lead training and are progressing well. Peppa is a delight so far and part of that is down to the training advice we have been given by Alex. We took out the one year option so also feel assured that should any issues crop up Alex will be on hand to help us navigate our way through them.

- -.J, Timperley, Cheshire (Testimonial)

Trainer note from Alex
I always enjoy working with puppy's and their owners - especially first time owners as they are always keen to learn! Peppa is doing really well and her family have worked really hard to ensure she grows up to become a well behaved young lady. Although my work is almost done with Peppa, I would be happy to catch up with her in the future just to say hello and go for a nice walk.

A fantastic first lesson, really thought my dog was beyond help and he's 11 months old but back to school for me, what an eye opener all I'd been doing with him was wrong. Alex showed us the right way and straight away we noticed a big difference with him. Alex explains everything in terms you can understand, it's so easy but you do have to put the time and effort in otherwise it's a waste. I would say to anyone who has concerns to contact Alex, we have had dog trainers before and not one of them inspired confidence yet Alex does and most of all it's great to see my dog is happy again and not in so much trouble!!!!

- -.L, Bury, Greater Manchester (Testimonial)

Trainer note from Alex
Our training is all about training the owner to train their dog as it is important that the dog listens to them once I have left their home. The first session went really well and her dog showed a big improvement after just 3 hours. I have since been back to see them again and was delighted with the results. This time we focused on walking to heel. He did really well and I am confident that by the next time I visit he will be walking at her side and not pulling. Keep up the good work.

Very pleased with how Baxter is doing. I understand it is early days and we still have work to do but I know we will get there. We can see a big change in him. He is a much calmer dog, more relaxed. My family have also seen a change in him.

- -.J, Dukinfield, Cheshire (Testimonial)

Trainer note from Alex
I have already been back to see Baxter and he is like a different dog. The first time I met him he barked and barked and barked. He really thought he was in charge of the house and all that responsibility was stressing him out, hence a lot of barking and growling at visitors. It was so nice to meet a calm and relaxed Baxter. His owners have worked hard and they re getting the results they desired which is excellent.

Alex dealt with Barking, Jumping up, Pulling, Puppy management, Recall

Alex was informative and supportive, answering many specific questions that simply can't be found online.Just a few days with our puppy using Alex's techniques has shown significant improvements in our puppies overall behaviour. We have some way to go but we are confident we will get there with Alex's support and guidance.

- -.I, Machester, Greater Manchester (Testimonial)

Trainer note from Alex
Puppies are great to work with and most have a thirst to learn new things and a desire please their owners. Puppies are like young children in some respects and clearly can't be taught everything they need to know in 3 hours. Overall several sessions however, we can help them learn how to behave and fit in with their family so that they feel safe and loved. I'm looking forward to the next session with the family.

Alex dealt with Aggression, Barking, Pulling

Alex was very warm and had a good sense of humor. He put us all at ease straight away. There was a lot of information to take in but it was worth it, as it made sense as the training session moved forward. It didn't take long for me to work out that it was me that was in need of training more than Drew. I found it quite difficult at first to do some of the commands I was asked to do, but with practice I cannot believe the difference in Drew and myself. I use to get quite stressed on walks with drew now it is a pleasure. would recommend Bark Busters and if you are lucky enough to get Alex you will have fun and learn some pretty clever techniques.

- -.S, Bury, Lancashire (Testimonial)

Trainer note from Alex
Drew is a lovely dog, but a little nervous, especially out and about. Drew also has an owner who is a little nervous of other dogs, so walks were becoming a little difficult for the pair of them. My training is very much about training the owner to train their dog so that the dog trusts them and feels safe when they are with them. Dogs really do pick up on how we are feeling, so a nervous or anxious owner will frequently result in a nervous or anxious dog. If a dog is nervous when out on a walk I want their default reaction to be stand calmly by their owner, rather than bark or snap. This can sometimes take time, but with consistent training, the results can be very rewarding. I have also spoken to Drew's owner who can't believe the difference in her little boy. There is still some work to be done on walks, but I'm delighted with the progress they have made in just 2 weeks and I can't wait for the next session.

From the very first visit there was an immediate change in my dog's behaviour (or should I say mine).... it was like owning a different dog! She responded straight away to the new passive leadership techniques Alex taught me and this resulted quite quickly in her overcoming her considerable anxiety when on walks. No longer is she fearful and stressed. We both enjoy long rambling walks now and it is great to see her running around, eager and enthusiastic. Alex's follow up visits have built on the initial training, reinforcing techniques that had slipped (oops), and putting in place new skills to further develop her obedience training. I am now the owner of a well-behaved and well-adjusted little dog, who is a joy to be around. I would thoroughly recommend Alex and the Bark Busters training techniques.

- -.S, Rochdale, Lancashire (Testimonial)

Trainer note from Alex
Although I know the techniques we teach our clients work, I still really buzz off how happy customers are after the first session. I also enjoy catching up with them on revisits to see for myself how well both dog and owner are doing in all aspects of their life. My last revisit with these 2 involved a lovely walk with a very well behaved little dog and her owner. This is why I love my job!

Alex dealt with Jumping up, Pulling, Separation anxiety

We were at the end of our tether with our 6 years old lurcher Mable, after we had to have our older dog put down at Christmas last year. She was clearly unhappy, howling and being destructive when we were out at work, we dreaded coming home! She was very anxious and unpredictable when out on a walk, so much so we would walk her at ungodly hours round an industrial estate to avoid traffic, people and other animals. Hence we called BarkBusters. Alex has been great; understanding Mable's behaviour and giving us an insight into her world. No surprise that we were the main problems! Alex has taught us some simple techniques and provided training tools to use with Mable and whilst she's not perfect (I wouldn't want that cos she'd loose her character!!!) she is better mannered. She will walk on the lead without lunging at people; other dogs (Stuffed or not) and cats are still a work in progress. She doesn't charge through doors anymore and try and make a bid for freedom when I open the front door. She is still far from thrilled when we go to work, but the separation anxiety appears to be easing gradually. Although she still greats me with a head through the blinds when I come home, my neighbours inform she is no longer spending the entire day howling. I have found the training sessions relaxed and enjoyable for both myself and Mable and Alex has also provided email support when needed. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Alex.

- -.C, Salford, Greater Manchester (Testimonial)

Trainer note from Alex
Like so many dogs that I work with, some of their issues take time and effort to resolve whereas other can be fixed so much quicker. Mable is a slightly nervous dog and she used to get very excited when she was walked on her lead, leaping around all over the place. So much so her owners used to try and walk her when they knew there would be very few people around which is clearly not ideal!! The last time I went I was delighted to see she was walking to heel really well. She was also much calmer in herself. Separation anxiety can time to resolve, but from what I saw last time I visited them, I'm confident she will continue to improve when she is left home alone.
