Great listener, very helpful and supportive

Emma came for our first training session. The knowledge she has got about dogs is exceptional, the whole experience from her advice given to putting it into practice exceeded my expectations, her explanations as to why my Rosie behaves like she does made total sense. Emma gave great advice not just with the reason she was here for but in all areas. She opened my eyes and made me realise that other issues are connected with the main issue. At the end of the session there were obvious improvements. Thank you Emma I can now see a light at the end of the tunnel. Look forward to the next one x

Emma really knows her stuff and was so helpful with getting Jake to stop barking at the vacuum cleaner and hairdryer. She was very knowledgeable about all things dog related and gave us useful advice to improve our behaviour around Jake so that he is now less anxious and stressed. We asked her to return to help with ‘door guarding’ and this has also improved. In general Jake is now much more relaxed and we are really pleased that Emma came and helped us

I have a reactive dog and I was unable to walk her or get her to behave inside the house. I tried treats, clickers etc... nothing seemed to work. Once we decide to have Emma meet my dog instantly my dog was behaving in the house and Emma helped me become a better owner for my dog. Eventually we merged outside where my dog can now go face to face with a family members dog and not react! We're slowly progressing to walk in the streets and at the moment we need to walk on the opposite side of the road to a dog. But this is major progress where as before my dog couldn't even be in site of another dog! I highly recommend as Emma did not judge me for adopting a reactive dog from dogs trust at a young age and unexperienced. Emma made me and my partner feel like we can change my dogs life for the better and take control.

I could not be happier with our first session with Emma. We have recently adopted two very nervous and very stressful pups from a Romanian rescue centre. They are extremely reactive to any noise or situation they are not used to either with barking or chewing of furniture and we are currently unable to take them outside the house because of this. Emma was able to identify all their needs from picking the right diet to demonstrating passive leadership and exploring exercise options. I understand we have a long way to go to help our pups but the techniques and advice we received and have implemented so far has shown results in the right direction. Emma was even able to sit in the same room with them while instructing myself on how to act and respond. We have not had guests in the house in the 3 months since adoption. I am now very hopeful that we may eventually reach a stress free time for our dogs and for them not to be so nervous all the time. I am very appreciative of the help and advice given thus far and look forward to working more with Emma in the near future.

Toby is a rescue who joined us two months before Emma visited. We were really struggling with his barking and constant grabbing at my clothing. We had tried all sorts of things that just didn’t work. Emma took the time to listen to us and our concerns, she observed his (and our) behaviour and talked through the issues. Emma suggested we looked at Toby’s food to see if it was linked to his behaviour; this has led to me keeping a diary to see if there is any link. We practiced the bah technique during the visit and saw immediate results. Just one week after Emma’s first visit, Toby’s grabbing has virtually stopped. His barking is still a work in progress but is significantly reduced. I feel I have a far better understanding of dogs and am working on becoming the leader (I have to admit I thought I already was but can see now how wrong I was!). We still have our challenges and a way to go but the improvement so far is beyond all our expectations.

Emma came to our house on 12th November for our first session with Dusty our 2 year old Romanian rescue. Dusty has been very very scared of cars and new people and would not go on walks due to this. Emma has shown us ways to get dusty walking and to reduce his stress whilst out and after 1 visit we managed to get Dusty walking the following day and this was all through our tone of voice and body language and the difference in dusty already is amazing!! I highly recommend Emma to anyone struggling with their dog training.

My husband and I were a week into rehoming Bert (a cocker/retriever cross) when we realised we needed help with some behavioural issues (lead reactivity, poor recall and general anxiety). I contacted Bark Busters and booked a support package with Emma Barrett. After one session with Emma, my husband and I felt really encouraged. Bert responded so positively to the training. This is really motivating as Bert has not had the best start in life and we want to get him back on track. We value the support package offered by Bark Busters as it means we have Emma’s on-going support across our first year with Bert. We know it’s going to take time and patience to gain Bert’s confidence and to know we have Emma in support is incredibly reassuring.

After just one session with Emma we have immediately noticed a change in our little Percy's behaviour. He's much calmer and less anxious. Emma taught us how to 'speak dog' and act as leaders Percy feels safe with. Emma clearly has a passion for her area of expertise and is very knowledgeable. We're very grateful for all her help and would highly recommend her to anybody who looking for a trainer / behaviourist.
