Bark Busters Reviews and Customer Testimonials

25th February 2025 - Alex Fraser

Alex dealt with Barking, Jumping up, Puppy Management, Recall, Separation Anxiety

Alex was really helpful and explained the concepts well. We bought a 12-month plan because we were sure we’d need further sessions - mainly to train us so that we don’t confuse the dog, rather than the dog himself needing more help.

- D.S, Oldham (Testimonial)

Trainer note from Alex
I quickly came to realise when I changed career over 10 years ago that my job is very much training the owner and not their dog, as it is far more important that a dog listens to their owner than a behaviourist like myself. Really enjoyed the initial session, but their dog was very nervous of people he didn’t know entering their home and he barked a lot. Caught up with them all yesterday and he was so much calmer. By the end of the follow up session we became good friends which amazing. Look forward to catching up again in a few weeks to see how they are all getting on.

Alex is fantastic at what he does, its as if he can talk to dogs. Honey is only 5 months old now and with help from Alex she's doing what we ask her to do. If you are thinking of a dog trainer, don't think just book Alex. You will not be disappointed at the results.

- M.F, Oldham (Testimonial)

Trainer note from Alex
I really enjoyed meeting Honey and her parents yesterday and Honey did really well. Honey’s Mum and Dad are not first time dog owners, but Honey is their first puppy in a long time and all puppies can challenge their owners. Bark Busters are not treat trainers, but focus more on body language and implementing simple ground rules to ensure dogs listen better and worry less. By the end of the session, Honey was absolutely shattered - not due to walking her miles - but working her brain. I can’t wait for an update in a couple of weeks, and I have every confidence that she will be making her owners proud!

Alex dealt with Aggression, Barking, Jumping up, Pulling

Alex Fraser is magic.!!!! Our Border Collie, Guinness, was rehomed from a family that could no longer provide a suitable life for him. He took some time to settle into his new surroundings and our way of life. After 6 months of trying to correct all his problems we had made progress but there were issues that we could not address, even though we have had big dogs in the past. Alex spoke to us by phone, we gave him some background information and he immediately gave us some helpful advice. However, his visit was where the magic happened!! Our main problem was Guinness pulling on the lead as he is a strong dog. Alex demonstrated the correct "Heelwork" technique, ensuring we understood by encouraging us to follow his example. We bought an excellent harness from him, which has proved most effective (we had given up on harnesses having already purchased two, which have now gone to the charity shop!!! ) He also taught us what to do when Guinness reacted to other dogs and how to stop him hurling himself at people visiting the house! After only one week, we see a marked improvement in Guinness's behaviour when walking on the lead. In the house, he is calm and responsive to instructions. We are sure that Alex's invaluable guidance and help will improve ours, and Guinness's, lives. We can now enjoy having Guinness as a lovely companion and look forward to more sessions with Alex to smooth out any further issues.

Trainer note from Alex
As always, another really great session and I loved meeting Guinness!! Again, the owners were certainly not first time dog owners, but like people all dogs are different and can have their own challenges. Guinness used to pull and became over adrenalised when he met a dog when on lead. But the end of the initial session Guinness was walking really well to heel which in turn will help them have a calmer Guinness when  they pass other dogs on a walk. I’m looking forward to catching up with them all in a few weeks.

Alex dealt with Barking, Pulling, Puppy Management

We are really grateful for Alex’s insight and training for our dog who was being reactive on walks with other dogs. Alex began the training in our home, and then it progressed to being outside in the park, and we were also able to include our other dog in the training for Alex to gauge how they interacted together. In our session we learnt so much, from nutrition to training tips, and insights into why he was reacting in a certain way, and we finished the training feeling empowered to put our learnings to use. We’ve also found the post-session materials shared very helpful to refer to as well. Would highly recommend Alex, thank you.

Alex was excellent. Put me and Skippy at ease. Showed me harness work I'd not done before. More importantly Skippy took to it.

Alex dealt with Aggression, Barking, Jumping up

Had first session with Alex and even though i was nervous to begin with as Charlie my 9mth old German Shepherd Dog has nervous aggression towards some people ,barks a lot and jumps up. But Alex soon put us at ease. Alex took time to listen to me and a few family members and explain to us what we need to be doing to help Charlie. I was surprised at how well Charlie did in the first session, really proud of him. Got some great training tips without any harshness. Been given plenty of homework before next visit. I can highly recommend Alex as a Trainer.

- L.D, Oldham (Testimonial)

Trainer note from Alex
I have worked with a lot of German Shepherds over the past 10 years and a lot of them were nervous and reactive towards strangers. Charlie is defiantly in his teenage phase and he had started to push back when he was being asked to do something by his family. I never know how much we can do on the initial session, especially when working with a nervous aggressive dog, but I was delighted with how well Charlie! When working with an excitable large teenage dog our body language plays a big role when we want them to listen to us. I believe that ground rules around the home and consistency from owners will also teach them that the home is actually their home to relax in rather than being the place they need to protect. It will be good to catch up with them all to see how they are all getting on.

Alex dealt with Barking, Hyperactivity, Jumping up, Pulling, Puppy Management

Alex was incredible. He was professional and answered our questions appropriately and earnestly. His knowledge was phenomenal, and it has really helped in our understanding and training our puppy Levi. The hands on approach was immensely helpful and made it easier to understand and follow his directions.

Trainer note from Alex
I love working with puppies and their owners! But the reality with any puppy is that there is no quick fix - even for an experienced dog owner. Dogs go through a lot of change in their first 12 to 18 months and my job is to assist the owners and give them the tools and skills to make their dog the best version of themselves.

Just had my first session with Alex and honestly couldn't believe how friendly and informative he was, it's been a day since my first session and I already see and difference in my two pups with the helpful exercises Alex was demonstrating and the different walking methods to gain interaction with them to avoid pulling. I'm excited to see how well behaved my two pups can be and Alex is the perfect person to help me along the way super supportive down the earth just a joy to be around would 100% recommend Alex to anyone needing help

Trainer note from Alex
Great session and 2 really lovely dogs. Puppies tend to be puppies until approximately 6 months and then they enter their teenage phase. The 2 teenagers I met did so well around the home, but were very excitable on their walk. In order for our dogs to listen to us outside of the home, it’s important at that they listen well inside the home. Looking forward to catching up with them all in a few weeks.

Alex dealt with Aggression, Pulling

Alex was very professional and friendly. Mavis is a rescue English Bulldog. I've had her 5 weeks now and while she gets on with my other 3 dogs when I'm walking her and she sees another dog she starts pulling barking trying to get to the dog and whining really bad. Alex showed me how to handle her on these outbursts and hopefully we will see a difference and she will be to heel. We also did indoor training as well which is a great success. I would definitely recommend Alex. Its also great he comes to your home.

- A.H, Royton (Testimonial)

Trainer note from Alex
Great session with Mavis and her Mum and she did really well. In order to get our dogs listening to us better when in a walk, it’s important that we get them listening to us around the home when they are less adrenalised. After the initial session there will always be some quick wins, but some behaviours can take longer to improve.

Mavis responded well in training. Alex showed me how to keep her under control when she sees another dog or cat as she starts to pull and tries to get to them barking and whining. Mavis is 4years old and I have only had her 5weeks and don't know how she was trained before so sticking to the programme plan I received off Alex hopefully we will see some changes.

Alex came to my home today to meet me and 10 month old scooby. Straight away he made me feel at ease and really relaxed after worrying all week how scooby would respond. Well scooby loved the training he did super well and was a really good boy I can now walk him without being dragged down the road without barking and lunging towards another dog. I can answer the door without barking and charging against my legs. The bah approach is so good scooby stops what he is doing straight away and looks at me which he never did he just ignored me. I’m so so happy with how today went and I can’t thank Alex enough if I could give 100 stars I would thank you Alex see you soon.

- G.S, Oldham (Testimonial)

Trainer note from Alex
I am delighted to receive such positive feedback so soon after the initial session yesterday. Within minutes of me being in their home both Scooby and his Mum relaxed which resulted in a very rewarding session. Scooby soon started to listen to his Mum in the house and when we went for a walk, he quickly walked to heel on a loose lead. We finished the walk by following a couple of dogs from a distance and he was completely relaxed. I’ve been told that he was really well behaved when she walked him later that day, even when another dog barked at him. Thank you for the 100 stars!!

Alex dealt with Puppy Management

Alex was great, his knowledge of understanding us and our pup, Eddie, was amazing. After just one session we feel more confident with our stubborn English Bull Terrier, we did feel a bit stupid barking at our dog but it really does work. Eddie is so much more relaxed already. Thanks Alex, keep up the good work 😁

- S.W, Oldham (Testimonial)

Trainer note from Alex
All puppies have their challenges, but an English Bull Terrier puppy may challenge more than most, even if the owner has had young dongs before. I was delighted with how well he did on his first training session, and Im even more delighted to hear that they are already feeling more in charge of Eddie. Can’t wait to catch up with them all in a few weeks. Keep up the good work!
