Bark Busters Reviews and Customer Testimonials

17th April 2026 - Emma Barrett

Emma dealt with Pulling, Recall

We had a very useful and informative first session with Emma. We talked through our dog’s history and explained the issues we were having (mostly recall). Emma really listened and then worked some ideas through with us as to how to move forward in our training. She really helped us to understand our dog’s mental processes and how he sees the world differently to us. Emma sent us her training notes shortly afterwards with recommendations and has also emailed a number of training tips which I’ve found very useful. We’ve made a number of changes on the back of Emma’s advice and Rufus’ behaviour and reactions on the lead and long lead are definitely improving and he is more under my control now when we are out and about. I highly recommend Barkbusters - Emma is very professional, helpful and with excellent communication.

Emma dealt with Aggression, Jumping up, Separation Anxiety, Other

Emma presented as a warm and knowledgeable professional and was able to identify my pup as needy and anxious. Emma warned us that she may tell us things that may make us uncomfortable but honesty is important to help our pup. Essentially we have not given him the pack leadership he needs and he is the leader. I am so grateful for the techniques Emma has given us and already I can see changes that were needed in his behaviour. Emma sent written feedback of her time with us, alongside 13 worksheets on different training topics. I look forward to our next session.

Emma dealt with Aggression, Barking

Emma visited our house and chatted with us for a couple of hours without the dog. We then had a good session with the dog where Emma explained to us what she wanted to put into practice. It is only a wek ago but we are already seeing a change to our dogs behaviour

Emma dealt with Barking

Emma was very polite, she talked us through how we should train Freddie to help with his barking. Emma was here for 2 hours and by the time she left Freddie had calmed his barking. So far the training is working really well, knowing Emma is only a phone call away is reassuring. We would definitely recommend using Emma if you need help with your dog.

Emma dealt with Aggression, Separation Anxiety, Sibling Rivalry

Emma came to us a month ago when our 2 dogs were fighting multiple times a day. We were having to separate them at all times and they couldn’t be trusted outside of their crates together. We were really worried we were going to have to rehome one of them, but with the training Emma put in place we really have noticed a difference. She taught us how to deal with when our dogs are misbehaving and told us about passive leadership and how to combat it. In the space of a month we’ve went from not being able to have our dogs in the same room to our dogs sleeping on the same bed and playing together. Emma’s guidance and the consistent training has massively improved our relationship with our dogs and, carrying on with the training, we can’t wait to see them grow even more! A big thank you to Emma, she is absolutely fantastic and we would highly recommend.

31st October 2024 - Emma Barrett

Emma dealt with Aggression, Barking, Separation Anxiety

One week in after our initial assessment with Emma and improvements are certainly visible with our two spaniels, although we are fully aware we still have a way to go. We contacted Bark Busters for help with barking, rivalry with our spaniels, separation anxiety and recall off lead. Emma was highly informative and precise with advice given and it was noticeably clear that she has a lot of knowledge within this field. We could not believe that the three techniques she was to share with us would show results instantly. Advise was also given around food and the benefits of ‘raw’ feeding compared to dry. We have since introduced raw food to the diet (weaning from dry) and already they seem more satisfied and calmer. The 3hour initial assessment seemed to pass quickly but Emma was quick to reassure that she is contactable as and when needed. Here’s to the next session.

Emma dealt with Hyperactivity, Jumping up

We were a bit sceptical at first but could not believe the difference within 2 hours of meeting Emma, we had the tools to change Micas behaviour. It was like we had a completely different dog. We are continuing Micas training and have seen a marked improvement in her behaviour and for this we cannot thank Emma enough.

Emma dealt with Barking, Pulling

Our whippet was reactive to other dogs and pulled on the lead - nothing we had tried had any success. We contacted Emma at Bark Busters to see if she could help. Emma reassured us that the training didn't use any harsh methods but neither did it use treats, which did leave us wondering a bit how it was going to work! Emma took a full history and listened carefully to the issues we had before even meeting our dog. She then explained the framework which would help our dog to understand what she had to do, and us to be better at responding in difficult situations. Emma left us with some exercises to practice and a plan of how to proceed, explaining that it is not an instant cure but that over time, our dog would improve. This took the pressure off us so we didn't feel we had to get it right straightaway. However, to our surprise, even the first exercises produced a noticeable difference in our dog's behaviour. We built up slowly as advised and she continued to improve. On about 2 or 3 occasions, we got "stuck" at a particular point when our dog seemed to reach a plateau and we couldn't work out how to progress. On each occasion, Emma was able to offer advice with a phone call, email or a visit which enabled us to get over that hump and to keep moving forwards. Just over six months on, and our dog is completely different. She walks calmly, she listens to us and no longer barks furiously at every dog she sees. We still have to pay attention, but we can now interpret her body language and intervene to stop any unwanted behaviour before it starts. Out dog is generally more relaxed and confident around other dogs when off lead, too. We couldn't be more pleased with her progress and are very grateful to Emma for all her advice and support. And there really were no treats required!

Emma explained the methodology very well, and also gave additional advice on diet, which may be contributory to Archie’s behaviour. So far, so good!!
