Home Dog Behaviour Training in Romford

Home Dog Training for Dogs of All Ages, Breeds & Behaviour Problems
Welcome to Bark Busters Home Dog Training Romford. I'm Sydney Coleman, your local dog behaviour therapist and trainer. I provide personal, one-to-one dog training and behaviour support in Romford and surrounding areas, in your home and in the environments where your dog's behaviour actually happens.
If your dog is constantly barking, pulling on the lead, reacting to other dogs, struggling to settle, or showing behaviour you find hard to manage, my personal training plans can help.
Rather than expecting every dog to respond to the same generic training programme, we work with you to understand why your dog behaves the way they do and create a practical training plan tailored to your dog, your family, and your lifestyle.
Dog Training That Comes to You
Many behaviour problems cannot be resolved in a training hall. Your dog may bark at the front door, pull when you leave the house, react to dogs on walks, guard food or toys, become distressed when left alone, or struggle to settle around visitors.
That's why Bark Busters brings dog training directly to you.
Our home dog training approach allows us to see your dog's behaviour in their normal environment, identify potential triggers and patterns, understand how your dog interacts with you and your family, address problems where they actually occur, give you practical techniques you can use every day, and build a training plan around your dog's individual needs.
The goal isn't simply to teach your dog commands. It's to help you understand your dog and create lasting improvements in everyday life.
Dog Behaviour Problems We Can Help With
Whether you have a young puppy developing unwanted habits or an adult dog with an established behaviour problem, Bark Busters can provide personal home support.
Aggressive Dog Training
If your dog growls, snaps, lunges or shows aggression towards people or other dogs, professional help can make a significant difference.
We can help you understand potential triggers and develop safer, more appropriate responses.
Reactive Dog Training
Does your dog bark, lunge, pull or become difficult to control when they see another dog, person, cyclist or other trigger?
We can help you work towards calmer, more manageable behaviour.
Excessive Barking
Barking can be frustrating for you, your neighbours and your dog.
Whether your dog barks at visitors, noises, other dogs, people passing the house or seemingly for no obvious reason, we'll help you understand what's driving the behaviour.
Separation Anxiety
Does your dog become distressed when you leave? Whining, barking, destructive behaviour, pacing, and other signs of distress can make leaving your dog alone extremely difficult.
Bark Busters can help you understand the behaviour and develop an appropriate training programme.
Puppy Training
Give your puppy the best possible start in life. Our home puppy training lessons can help you with toilet training, mouthing and biting, jumping up, recall, lead walking, basic obedience, socialisation, door manners, and impulse control.
Recall Training
Does your dog ignore you when you call them? We can help you build a more reliable recall so walks become easier and your dog responds to you even with distractions.
Lead Pulling & Loose Lead Walking
If walking your dog has become a battle, my personal training plan can help. We can work on pulling, lunging, attention, engagement and calmer walking behaviour.
Resource Guarding
Does your dog growl, snap or become defensive around food, toys, beds or other possessions?
Resource guarding should be taken seriously. We can help you understand the behaviour and establish appropriate training and management strategies.
Rescue Dog Training
Rescue dogs can arrive with behaviours, fears or habits that aren't immediately obvious. Our tailored approach can help you and your rescue dog build confidence, communication and a better relationship.
Nervous and Fearful Dogs
If your dog is worried about people, dogs, noises, visitors, travel, or unfamiliar environments, we'll help you understand their behaviour and work at a pace that suits them.
Why Choose Bark Busters?
Personal dog behaviour training - Our approach isn't classes or a one-size-fits-all model. Every dog is different. Your dog's breed, age, previous experiences, environment, family routine and individual personality can all influence behaviour.
That's why Bark Busters focuses on your individual dog and your particular circumstances.
Home visits - Training takes place in your dog's everyday environment, where many behaviour problems stem from.
One-to-one support - You and your dog receive personal support rather than following a generic group programme.
Tailored behaviour-focused training - We don't simply focus on teaching commands. We look at the underlying behaviour, the triggers, and help you understand what your dog is communicating.
Practical techniques - Training is designed to fit into your normal life rather than requiring hours of complicated exercises.
Dogs of all ages and breeds - From young puppies to older dogs, and from everyday training issues to more challenging behaviour problems.
Ongoing support - You don't have to work everything out on your own after the initial training.

Real Behaviour Problems. Real-Life Solutions.
Dog behaviour training isn't just about having a dog that can sit, stay and lie down on command. It's about enjoying everyday life together. Answering the door without your dog exploding with excitement. Walking without being dragged down the street. Having visitors without worrying about your dog's reaction. Leaving the house without your dog becoming distressed. Calling your dog and knowing there's a much better chance they'll come back.
That's what effective behaviour training should ultimately achieve. A happier, calmer relationship between you and your dog.

About me
I was born in North Kent and raised among dogs. My mother fostered dogs, often struggling to find them permanent homes because she loved them dearly! At one point, we had seven dogs, mainly Labradors and some Shih Tzus. They were a significant part of my life, and I actively participated in their training, helping to walk and retrain them to prepare them for their new owners.
I attended college and studied business and marketing management. After graduation, I realised that my roles in business weren’t fulfilling or enjoyable. Luckily, my mother, who had relocated to another part of the country, was a successful Bark Busters behaviour therapist and trainer. During a visit and stay with her, I saw that this could be the ideal career for me. A way to combine my love for dogs with helping people better connect with their pets. I applied, underwent extensive training, and it turned out to be the best decision of my life.
My family has two dogs that previously struggled with behavioural issues. Buster, a 10-year-old Labrador, was reactive to other dogs and would pull on the lead. Using Bark Busters' calm, positive methods, I now enjoy walks with him, as he can run off-lead and have fun. Our other dog, Enzo, is a Cockerpoo who came to us as a puppy for my younger sister. He initially displayed typical puppy behaviours such as chewing furniture, toilet accidents, and biting with his needle teeth. As a Cockerpoo, he required extensive training to respond to commands. It was challenging, but now, at 4 years old, he's a well-behaved and lovely dog I am proud of.
Whether you are a new or experienced dog owner with an ongoing or newly emerged behaviour problem, have a rescue dog who needs help settling, have a new puppy and want to give them the best start in life, or would like advice before getting a new puppy, I would love to help. Please contact me for a no-obligation chat to explore how we can work together to get you the dog you've always wanted.
